Can you get a Tier A MBA seat?

CAT appears to be a super-difficult exam to the eyes of many aspirants. But is it really that difficult?

Let’s figure out!

First, let’s know the competition in numbers. To know, we should look in the past. Here is the data for the number of CAT Takers for last few years

2020: Approximately 2.3 lakh candidates.

2021: Around 2.3 lakh candidates.

2022: Approximately 2.5 lakh candidates.

2023: Around 2.6 lakh candidates.

2024: Around 2.7 lakh candidates.

Let’s use this past data to extrapolate! It is safe to assume that at the most 3.0 Lakh candidates will be taking CAT 2025. There are other entrances too like XAT, NMAT, SNAP, CMAT and CET via which one can get a Tier A MBA college. The number of CAT takers usually represents the superset and the number of OMET (other management entrance tests) takers represents the subset. So, 300000 is the sample space.
